What is suitable accomodation?

Trusts have a duty to provide accommodation for 16 and 17 year old young people who become homeless. The accommodation should be suitable for you based on your individual needs. Once you have been accommodated for 24 hours you become Looked After.

What is a children’s home?

A Children’s Home is residential accommodation for Looked After Children. It is staffed by Social Workers and should provide appropriate care and accommodation for the children resident there.

What is Foster Care?

Foster Care is when you are placed in a home with professional Foster Carer’s and their family. Foster Placements can be emergency, short-term or long term. The Foster Carer’s receive an allowance for providing a home for you.

What is Kinship Foster Care?

This means you will be placed with someone you already know which usually means family members such as grandparents, aunts and uncles or your brother or sister.
