I don’t have a bank account; can I still access the free school meal payment? (COVID-19)

If you do not have access to a bank account, or for families seeking asylum, special arrangements have been made to assist you so that payments can be made, where there is no other payment option, as a top up to their Aspen Card.  Relevant asylum seeking families will receive a letter about this.

My child is entitled to free school meals, can they still access these? (COVID-19)

The Department of Education has made temporary arrangements relating to provision of free school meals for eligible children who cannot attend school because of the coronavirus outbreak.  A financial payment of £2.70 per child per day is provided fortnightly through a direct payments scheme run by the EA. This arrangement took effect from 26th March 2020.
