APPRENTICE SOLICITOR REQUIRED
The Children’s Law Centre (Belfast) has received funding from The Legal Education Foundation’s Justice First Fellowship Scheme to recruit an Apprentice Solicitor from May 2017 – August 2019. The Legal Education Foundation will provide the Apprentice Solicitor with an agreed trainee solicitor’s salary for up to 2.5 years whilst a solicitor trainee at the Children’s Law Centre.
To qualify to apply for a Solicitor’s Apprenticeship at the Children’s Law Centre under the Justice First Fellowship Scheme, candidates must be eligible to apply for September 2017 admission to the Solicitor’s Post Graduate Diploma in Professional Legal Studies at the Institute of Professional Legal Studies, Queen’s University, Belfast. Appointment to an Apprenticeship shall be conditional upon the candidate subsequently being accepted onto the Solicitor’s Post Graduate Diploma in Professional Legal Studies at the Institute of Professional Legal Studies, Queen’s University, Belfast, for the period from September 2017 – August 2019 and subject to all requirements of the Law Society of Northern Ireland being met.
As well as completing their solicitor training, a key component of the Scheme is that the Justice First Fellows undertake a project, agreed with their host organisation, which will advance access to justice. The successful candidate will commence work on the access to justice project at Children’s Law Centre in May 2017.
