CLC Briefing Seminar on Mental Capacity Bill - July 2014

on Thursday, 01 November 2012. Posted in Blog

At it’s recent Briefing Seminar held in NICVA on the 30 July 2014, CLC provided key stakeholders with a children’s rights analysis of the DHSSPS and DoJ’s proposals for new mental health and mental capacity law, as outlined in the draft Mental Capacity Bill (NI), currently out for consultation until the 2 September 2014.

The Seminar provided an opportunity for over 60 attendees from across a range of sectors to consider and discuss the implications of Government’s current proposals to both exclude under 16s from the Mental Capacity Bill and retain, with some amendment, the Mental Health (NI) Order 1986 and partially include 16 and 17 year olds under the proposed new Bill.
